Amsterdam Designer Trip 2027: Come Create, Explore, and Connect with Carina Gardner

I want to tell you about something I have been planning for a while now, and I am so excited to finally share it with you.

In April 2027, I am taking a small group of designers to Amsterdam. And when I say small, I mean it. This trip is limited to 20 people. We will spend six days exploring one of the most visually rich cities in the world together, visiting world-class museums, making things with our hands, and soaking up a city that has been inspiring artists and designers for centuries.

This is the Amsterdam designer trip 2027 I have always wanted to lead. If you have been waiting for a sign to finally do something like this, here it is.

Why Amsterdam?

Amsterdam is one of those cities that designers fall in love with immediately. The architecture alone is worth the trip. Narrow canal houses, centuries-old bridges, streets that feel like they were designed by someone who understood proportion and light. And then there is the art. The Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, the textile heritage, the craft traditions. Amsterdam has layers of creative history that you cannot find anywhere else.

I have traveled a lot, and Amsterdam holds a special place for me. There is something about the way the city balances history with creativity, tradition with innovation, that feels deeply relevant to the work we do as designers. It is the kind of place that fills your creative well back up.

That is exactly what I want this trip to do for the designers who come with me.

The Bonus Day: TextielMuseum in Tilburg

If you want to extend the trip by one day, I have added an optional bonus experience that I am genuinely thrilled about. The TextielMuseum in Tilburg is about two hours outside Amsterdam and is one of the most incredible textile and design museums in Europe.

The bonus day is $315 and includes the private coach, entry to the museum, and an extra night in a hotel. You will add this on when you reserve your spot.

For anyone who loves textiles, pattern, and the intersection of art and craft, this is an easy yes.

Who This Trip Is For

This Amsterdam designer trip 2027 is for creative women who want more than a vacation. It is for the designer who has been pouring into her craft and her clients and is ready to pour back into herself. It is for the creative entrepreneur who knows that the best ideas come when you get out of your usual environment and into something that challenges and inspires you.

You do not have to be a seasoned traveler. A lot of people joining us may be traveling internationally for the first time. We will have an online community before the trip, a group call so everyone can meet, and full support throughout the week. You will not be navigating any of this alone.

You do need to enjoy walking and biking. Amsterdam is a walking city, and we will be on our feet a lot. If you are physically healthy and excited to explore, you are going to love every minute of it.

Why Travel with a Group of Creatives?

I have traveled solo and I have traveled with groups, and I can tell you that there is something completely different about being in a new city with people who see the world the way you do.

When you walk through the Rijksmuseum with other designers, the conversation is different. When you sit in a Delft tile painting workshop next to someone who also thinks about color and composition for a living, you learn things you would never learn on your own. When you share a canal cruise with a group of creative women who are all investing in themselves and their work, something shifts.

That creative energy is real. It is one of the things I love most about bringing designers together in spaces like this, and Amsterdam is one of the best backdrops in the world for it.

A Note from Me

I have a Ph.D. in Design and more than twenty years of experience as a designer, Creative Director, and educator. I founded the University of Arts and Design because I believe deeply that designers deserve real education and real community.

This trip is an extension of that belief. I want to take designers somewhere that fills them back up creatively, gives them experiences that inform their work for years to come, and connects them with other women who get it.

Twenty spots. One week. Amsterdam in the spring, when the tulips are in bloom and the city is at its most beautiful.

I hope you will come with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

What airport should I fly into?

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is where you will want to fly into. Airfare is not included in the trip price so you have full flexibility to use points or choose your own routing.

Will I have a roommate?

Yes. Rooms are shared with twin beds, two people per room. You will be able to choose your roommate through our online community before the trip. If the numbers happen to work out so that someone ends up solo, there is no extra charge for that.

What if I have never traveled internationally before?

This trip was designed with first-time international travelers in mind. We provide a structured itinerary, a group online community before departure, and full support throughout the week. You will not be doing this alone, and that makes all the difference.

Is this trip physically demanding?

Amsterdam is a walking city and we will be on our feet a lot, including a full day of biking. We recommend that you are in good physical health and comfortable with walking and light activity. If you need a rest at any point, your transit card gives you easy access back to the hotel.

Can I extend my stay before or after the trip?

Absolutely. You are welcome to arrive early or stay on after the group departs. You will be responsible for any extra hotel nights and activities outside the scheduled itinerary, but I am happy to give recommendations.

What if I need to cancel?

Full refunds are available through July 31, 2026. After that date, you can transfer your spot to another person through January 1, 2027. Just have them pay you directly and take your place on the trip.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes! If spots sell out, you can join the waitlist at designsuitecourses.com/travelamsterdam. If there is enough interest, we may open a second trip.

What questions do you have that are not covered here?

Email us at assistantcarinagardner@gmail.com and we will get back to you.
